Did you know that many cartoons you enjoy in color now actually started off as black and white cartoons? While many animators were early adopters of the Technicolor 3-strip process, most families' televisions were black and white sets. Often animators could make color cartoons but needed to create cartoons in black and white to cater to more viewers at home. But as color televisions became the standard many television shows experienced a transition period from black and white to color - including cartoons! Some were transitioned to color mid-season while others were recolored and aired as reruns.
So, with that information, it's time to see if you can guess which cartoons originally got their start in black and white, and which ones have always been in color. We all know Popeye was in black and white, but what about these other cartoons?
